It is important not to just limit thoughts to items that we consider to be heavy and this training covers the importance of considering your actions and exposure completing work-based tasks when you will be involved in moving items. 

 

 

Description 

When we consider what Manual Handling is, we might think of specific tasks or any activity that we complete where we move and lift heavy items, however manual handling regulations and guidance do not provide regulations on weight limits. It is important not to just limit thoughts to items that we consider to be heavy, this training covers the importance of considering your actions and exposure completing work-based tasks when you will be involved in moving items. 

We all have different tolerances and a lift of a box of paper can pose as much risk as lifting a heavier item; reduce risk with basic training that creates a knowledge and confidence of how to approach manual handling tasks. 

Target audience 

All Personnel where any part of their job involves or could involve lifting, pushing or pulling an item of any weight.  

Aims 

To understand the need for correct manual handling techniques throughout the workplace and environment. 

Ensure you have sufficient knowledge and understanding of current health and safety requirements to prevent injury to yourself as required by the Manual Handling Operations Regulations. 

Provide staff with sufficient knowledge to undertake manual handling activities safely. 

Specifications course taught to: 

Course is taught to achieve regulations as specified in UK Health & Safety Executive Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 – Fourth Edition 2016 Regulation 4(3)(c) 

Notes 

No specific notes are applicable. 

Duration 

Suggested duration for completion is 1.5 hours. 

Interval for continuation 

There is no requirement to have interval continuation training for this course, although we suggest refreshing the training every 18-24 months; especially important for personnel who work in a manual environment daily.
